DAY 2 WORKSHOPS: MORNING

Our industry holds that both Mentoring skill and Professional Coaching skill are useful for ScrumMasters, agile coaches, managers and executives. Yet many are unclear on the differences between them, and so may miss opportunities to apply them beneficially. It’s time to activate these powerhouse tools, in a session that’s more show than tell.

This half-day workshop is facilitated by Lyssa Adkins and Deborah Preuss – we’re both professionally trained coaches who know and love Agile teams. After an short intro to lay out basic distinctions, we’ll launch into action – taking on current, real-life problems and opportunities. First we’ll coach and mentor a few of you, so you can observe and ask questions. Then those of you ready for practice will coach and mentor one another in a guided Dojo setting, while the rest of us observe and offer feedback.

You’ll witness conversations that usually happen only behind closed doors – along the way absorbing the simple anatomy of powerful Coaching and Mentoring conversations, and understanding how these skillsets support problem solving in radically different ways. You’ll leave with clarity to coach and mentor more authentically and confidently, and tips for further practice in your workplace.

Lyssa Adkins, the author of Coaching Agile Teams and a certified ORSC coach, is much appreciated by change leaders for her ability to bring clarity and fresh energy to complex organisational situations. Deborah Hartmann Preuss, a certified Co-Active coach, uses online coaching to help change agents at all levels tap into their inner brilliance for more confidence, inspiration and impact. Together they’ve created the InspireMe! self-coaching card deck for Agilists.

Agile Service Management | MarsLander Game Simulation

MarsLander – making your ITSM teams more Agile.

DevOps is very popular, we all talk about it and are doing ‘something’ with DevOps. It looks like DevOps is more Dev than Ops and Ops teams are getting a bit nervous. They see DevOps coming, post-its on the wall, standups, flow etc. This simulation will help ITSM team to experiment with Agile and Lean principles and learn how to apply those principles in their own ITIL® world.

In this short version of the simulation, you will learn how to use flow and visualization to get a clear picture about the work that must be done before we can launch the rocket to Mars, with MarsLander in it. Then we will fly the first part of the mission to collect valuable data from the tail of Hardy IV. To sell it to our customers (universities and research centers).

Please join this interactive session if you want to learn more about the full game and it’s opportunities.

We can only accommodate 12 participants per session, so be fast.

Deborah Hartmann Preuss, CPCC, ACC

Owner and Certified Life Coach at abiggergame.today

Bringing joy back to the work of leading change!

Deborah helps leaders rediscover their own satisfying balance, resonant values, and clear personal vision. She offers live, online life-coaching sessions, customized to challenge and strengthen each person’s unique gifts. The result: change agents that shine – they become more relaxed and confident, tackling their challenges at home and at work with renewed energy.

Deb knows, from her experience as a Scrum Master, Agile coach and trainer, how it feels to be “out front,” – it can be hard to get grounded feedback and encouragement while leading the charge. So, since 2010 she’s been coaching Agile coaches and change leaders, testing and XP leads  – and also mentors, managers, parents – and anyone who dreams of making good things happen, personally and professionally.

Deb is a skilled facilitator, in-the-room and online. She creates magical learning spaces, full of curiosity and vulnerability, daring and celebration. You may have already enjoyed her hosting in an online MasterMind, Retrospective or LeanCoffee at CoachingCocktails.com.

Deb is a long-time contributor to the Agile community; in 2008 she co-created the AgileCoachCamp unConference meme, which has since run 100 times on four continents. More recently, she’s collaborated with German colleagues to create the online version of an Intervision peer-coaching format for Agile Coaches. She also teaches basic coaching skills for all team members, and helps facilitators deepen the art of “holding space” in her online Open Space workshop.

Deb’s committed to her craft: she is a Certified Professional Co-Active coach (CPCC) and an Associate of the International Coach Federation (ACC). She’s also studied coaching with Newfield Network, ORSC, Emergent Essence Dynamics and Coaches Rising. She’s Canadian, and speaks three languages – sadly, not Portuguese!

Deb lives with her agile coach husband Ilja Preuß (rhymes with “Rejoice!”) in Karlsruhe Germany. She invites to meet up with her for coffee if you’re passing through!

These “Coaching from the Couch” will be 45” One-on-One sessions and limited to 4 spots only.
