Jennifer Thomson is an IDC research director with over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Jennifer provides insights on the investment strategies and decisions of European enterprises around application development, deployment and testing engagements. Her research explores the new rules for application development and deployment in a digital economy; application modernization strategies; the evolution of QA & testing; and the role of automation, analytics and AI.
Jennifer co-leads IDC’s European DevOps & Opensource Practice and provides customers with an holistic view of DevOps strategies being applied in Europe. Additionally, Jennifer is an active member of the Digital Transformation, Security/GDPR, and Cognitive practices, with a special research focus on: DevOps for Digital, digital assurance strategies; the impact of GDPR on next generation development & test data management (TDM); the role of analytics and AI in DevOps.
Thomson has been responsible for the execution of a broad range of consulting and advisory projects. As IDC’s European expert on application development and deployment strategies, Thomson is an experienced public speaker and regularly presents at conferences and IDC partner and end-user events.
Before joining IDC, Thomson spent three years with Compaq Computer EMEA as a senior research analyst. Thomson has a bachelor’s degree in international business with German from Sheffield Hallam University (United Kingdom) and Pforzheim Fachhochschule (Germany).
